About MCAT Exam

Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is a standardized exam used in the United States & Canada for admission to medical schools which is designed to assess the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities of aspiring medical students.

The examination is divided into four sections:

Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems: This section includes topics such as biology, biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology.

Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems: This part covers concepts from general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and introductory biochemistry.

Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior: This includes the knowledge of psychology, sociology, and biology in relation to human behavior and social interactions.

Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills: This section assesses the student’s ability to analyze and evaluate complex passages from various disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

For the Physics part the main topics are:

• Thermodynamics
• Units and Dimensional Analysis
• Waves and Sound
• Work and Energy

For any MCAT test, there are 30 test dates throughout the year, and scores are released about 30-35 days after the test. 

The MCAT is divided into four sections, and physics makes up a quarter of the content (25% of the questions on the MCAT are physics questions directly or indirectly, many of which can be Physics Knowledge based) which is a significant portion of the test. Even if student aces the other sections, performing poorly in the physics certainly affects your final score.
